Gogebic Medical Facility Has Perfect Survey
Gogebic Medical Facility Has Perfect Survey

Staff and residents of Gogebic Medical Care Facility had a surprise early morning visit on Tuesday, April 15th when the Michigan Department of Community Health arrived to conduct their annual survey.   Surveys are conducted, on average, every 12 months, with no prior notification.

The MDCH Division of Nursing Home Monitoring serves to protect the health and safety of individuals receiving care in nursing homes, hospital longterm care units, and county medical care facilities.  They check for compliance with both Michigan nursing home laws and licensing rules, and the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Long Term Care Requirements for homes participating in the Medicare and/or Medicaid programs.  Using a detailed process, surveyors determine if federal regulations are being met.  Any regulations not met and examples of them are detailed in a report.  A violation with the potential for jeopardy or serious injury or death to resident will keep surveyors on site until the situation is remedied.

At the annual survey exit conference the staff and residents were very pleased to learn that they would not be receiving any citations; they had a “perfect survey.”

The surveyors commended the staff and said that they can be proud of what they do for the residents and the community.

GMCF administration and DHS Board would like to congratulate and thank staff members, residents, families, doctors and volunteers for their continued hard work and commitment.
