Westland Tiger Fans

Although they didn’t have seats in the bleachers at Comerica Park, nor peanuts or Cracker Jacks, they did have front row seats in front of a big screen TV, popcorn, soda pop and lots of baseball spirit.

Tiger fans at WCRC eagerly watched as Justin Verlander gave the Detroit Tigers an early lead with a 3-0 score.  The crowd was all consumed in their baseball spirit and rooting for their Tigers as they forged ahead of their rivals, while munching on snacks, provided by the Rehab team at WCRC.

Patients kept smiling and vowing their loyalty as they watched the game come to an end with an extra-inning run that pushed the Kansas City Royals over the top with a 5-4 win.  Even though the first game of the season proved to be a disappointment for Detroit Tiger fans, WCRC patients were so happy they were able to share in the excitement of Opening Day.  They said they actually felt like they were at the ballpark enjoying the game.

So for now, “…..I don’t care if I never get back; Let me root, root, root for the home team; If they don’t win it’s a shame.  For its one, two, three strikes, you’re out, at the old ball game.”

WCRC’s rehabilitation program offers patients the opportunity to maintain their present abilities; to live within the framework of their limitation; to increase their strength, endurance and tolerance; and to regain needed skills and mobility before returning to their homes and communities.  We promote self-care and independence by including the patient in the care-planning and decision-making process.
