The Health Care Association of Michigan (HCAM), a state affiliate of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), is the premier professional association representing more than 250 Michigan nursing and rehabilitation communities, including for- and not-for-profit, county medical care and hospital-based providers.
The Association began in 1948. A merger in 1974 created a new and larger organization that still continues to grow in members and services. In 1999, HCAM created a division to serve the assisted living community. Today, the Michigan Center for Assisted Living (MCAL) represents more than 100 adult foster care (AFC), home for the aged (HFA) and senior housing communities statewide.
The two organizations are linked together by a common belief and passion: to help Michigan’s long-term care providers achieve unsurpassed levels of performance, excellence and quality. Together, HCAM and MCAL collaborate with more than 130 Associate Partners each year to achieve this very ambitious, but important mission.
