A Need for Future Leaders: At a time when the long-term care profession is facing significant increase in consumer demand, the available and qualified workforce is declining. While organizations are working to train current leaders through various programs, there is a need for development of future leaders. The U.S. Bureau of Census reported that by 2025 in Michigan, there will be more than 1,821,000 citizens over the age of 65. However, by 2025, the qualified workforce is not expected to increase to meet this new demand of elderly citizens but decrease; the long-term care profession is in desperate need of future leaders to promote the quality care of this population.

Purpose: The purpose of the Future Leaders Program is to invest in and prepare promising individuals for successful leadership roles and expand their potential as a leader in the health care profession. This four module program will provide a foundation for leadership development, crucial skills and a variety of resources in a supportive and encouraging environment.
