Association recognizes dedication to improving the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities
Washington, D.C. – The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) announced the recipients for the 2017 AHCA/NCAL Awards program today. Each year, AHCA/NCAL recognizes the men and women who selflessly care for individuals in long term and post-acute care centers, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) residences, and assisted living communities. Honorees demonstrate selflessness, compassion, and strive to enhance the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities in their communities.

Federal Changes in Medicare Threaten Michigan Nursing Facilities

Michigan’s nursing facilities will suffer a cut in their annual Medicare payments between $129 - $140 million beginning Oct. 1 under a new rule recently announced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This translates into an 11.1 percent cut in their basic Medicare rates or a loss of approximately $55 - $60 per Medicare day. These cuts could go higher, $65 - $70 per day, for those facilities providing intensive rehabilitation services.
