Beaumont Commons, Farmington Hills – Team Lead Billing Follow Up 

Job Summary:
This position is located at the Beaumont Commons, Farmington Hills campus and reports to the Senior Director of Financial Operations, LTC. Working as part of a team, this employee is responsible for all phases of the billing and collection activities for private pay and third party commercial billing. They must post charges, create bills, status open claims, respond to rejection and error reports, posts payments, prepare refunds, post bad debt and adjustment requests. The employee will participate in site meetings and collaborate with co-workers to gain information needed for billing. The employee will help residents apply for Medicaid benefits and report necessary information to DHS. This candidate must demonstrate strong customer service skills, an ability to build relationships and interact with people of various ages.

This person must have knowledge of insurance regulations, collection practices, be knowledgeable in Microsoft applications, and be able to demonstrate good communication and time management skills. The employee must be able to work under pressure and without constant supervision. They need the ability to demonstrate creative problem solving skills and good organizational skills, be self-directed and able to set priorities, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately. The employee should demonstrate initiative and teamwork. They must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality in this role.

Health care billing experience required, Skilled Nursing Home billing experience is preferred, prior patient management systems knowledge preferred. High School Diploma Required, Associates Degree Preferred.

As Director of Billing Services, you will be a key member of the management team by leading the billing function and supporting all billing services for 24 facilities. You will oversee inpatient/outpatient charges, posting, billing, collections, and ADRs, while ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.

Areas of responsibility will include:

  • Oversee and ensure that accurate and timely billing is done by all team members.

  • Establish and maintain controls to ensure accuracy and third party compliance in all aspects of billing activities.

  • Lead all billing processes for Medicare, Medicaid, Private Medical Insurance, and HMO’s.

  • Manage payment cycles and monitor billing activities to confirm thorough submission of all claims.

  • Monitor all billing and collections, assuring that accounting procedures are in place and records are maintained in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Manage and monitor the ADR process.

  • Review and justify adjustments.

  • Meet key financial metrics related to collections.

  • Resolve patient billing inquiries and issues.

  • Prepare monthly financial reports for operational reviews.

To be successful in this role requires:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of related billing experience, including Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid billing, hospital billing, and insurance claims processing experience.

  • Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to lead and direct a team; 5+ years of previous supervisory experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and members at all levels within an organization.

  • A strong customer service focus.

  • Strong computer skills, including experience with electronic medical record systems.

In-depth knowledge of insurance guidelines, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance guidelines; medical insurance manual claims process and claims appeal process; medical terminology; insurance plans and Medicare procedures; diagnosis coding and UB-04, 1500, CPT, and ICD-9 Coding.

Position summary:

Reporting directly to the Department of Social Services board, the Executive Director is responsible for overall Facility operations and oversees the facility’s financial management and work performed in order to achieve established goals and objectives. This person works cooperatively with Board to develop short and long-range goals and objectives, and ensures effective implementation of same by organizing and directing work of Facility employees. This person represents the facility to elders, family members, professional organizations, governmental agencies, community groups, and the external public.   • Develops and secures Board approval and implements long-range and strategic plans for Facility development and growth in response to community needs.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive strategic and business plans for approved programs and services.

  • Ensures effective implementation of approved policies and procedures, and attainment of established goals and objectives.
  • Oversees and monitors services provided and work performed throughout Facility to achieve appropriate levels of quality, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensures organization-wide compliance with all applicable state, local and federal regulations and standards.
  • Oversees and directs Facility employees and their performance by establishing reporting relationships and accountability and promoting management staff development, interviews, hires, orients, trains, evaluates performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges subordinates.

Knowledge/Qualifications/Requirements for the position:

  • Advanced knowledge of administration and management, finance, planning, regulatory compliance, quality, MOE and legislation.
  • Current Michigan Nursing Home Administrator’s license, or ability to acquire license within six months of employment if licensed in another state.
  • Five years progressively more responsible managerial or administrative experience, including three years high-level administrative experience in a health-care organization, in order to effectively direct Facility operations.
  • High-level interpersonal skills necessary in order to oversee and direct the work of others.
  • High-level problem solving skills necessary in order to organize, plan and direct the work of entire Facility; develop short and long-range plans; and direct financial management of Facility.
  • High-level of computer knowledge required; specifically regarding electronic communication, Electronic Health Records, Social Media and HIPAA .Anchor
