HCAM/MCAL Annual Convention & Expo Wrap-Up

HCAM/MCAL Convention & Expo Wrap Up

The 2022 HCAM/MCAL Convention & Expo brought over 500 people together, both in person and virtually, to network with peers, learn from industry leaders, and share their passion for delivering excellent long-term care for Michigan’s senior population.

Energy and Excitement: We received terrific feedback about the many ways the event was a positive experience for both in-person and online attendees. In-person attendees were eager to reconnect in a live setting. They also appreciated how the EXPO provided a fun, engaging way to stay up-to-date on new products and resources. Both in-person and virtual attendees were pleased that they had access to over 30 hours of continuing education as well as many opportunities to get their questions addressed throughout the event.

Now Available: Convention Session Recordings

Convention education sessions are now available on demand to all registered attendees until Oct. 17. Please note that we are not able to grant extensions to this deadline. Registered attendees can access the recordings HERE following the instructions provided in the “Know Before You Go” email you received prior to convention. To receive credit for on-demand participation, you must complete a post-test with a passing score of 85% or higher. If you missed out on convention, it’s not too late to register for on-demand access. Please register HERE.

Opportunity to Support Scholarships for Ongoing Education

One way HCAM promotes excellence in senior care is by helping long-term care employees build lasting careers. HCAM’s David Lebenbom Memorial Scholarship program supports employees who want to further their education. This year, we were able to support higher education for 11 employees at member facilities.

The scholarship fund relies on industry support. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the fund during the scholarship reception at the convention on Sept. 13. It’s not too late to help fund this important program!

What does my gift do?

Your gift makes career advancement possible for employees of HCAM member facilities currently enrolled in a program related to long-term care at an accredited college or university. This includes nursing, art or music therapy, long-term care facility management, social work, and several other related fields. Scholarships are a win for employees as well as the industry as we strive to alleviate staffing challenges.

Please visit our secure online donation portal. The scholarship fund is registered as a 501(c)3. A donation may qualify as a charitable contribution for tax purposes. Please consult your tax advisor.

Meaningful, engaging events are not easy to achieve, so let me conclude by thanking everyone – our attendees, speakers, vendors, board members, volunteers, staff, and sponsors — who made this successful event possible. We couldn’t do it without you!
