SERIES DESCRIPTION:
The Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) is a shift to reimbursing for clinically complex characteristics instead of therapy minutes. The Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) needs to embrace and understand what the driving components are that impact
care, quality reporting and payment. With the launch of PDPM Oct. 1, SNFs will have less MDS assessments, but higher scrutiny of MDS codes and supporting documentation. Items from Section G will be replaced with items from Section
GG. ICD-10 coding will be imperative and supportive documentation highly important for supporting MDS and UB-04 coding in order to be reimbursed for care delivered.
