Allendale Nursing & Rehabilitation Opens $3.7 Million Transitional Care Unit

Posted: 01.13.17
Allendale Nursing & Rehabilitation celebrates their new 31 bed Transitional Care Unit with a Grand Opening on Thursday, January 19th starting at 3 pm. According to Kim Vagnetti, Administrator, “our new transitional center offers an impressive design and enhancements to best manage the post-hospital rehab-to-home patient.”
The Bistro offers fine dining, and close access to the centralized nurse station, kitchenette serving area, and activity areas. There are two spacious natural lighted family lounges and a landscaped pergola covered courtyard with water feature. Additional outside walking areas have also been incorporated into the over design. Vagnetti explains, “We want to provide the comforts of home during the rehabilitation process and have taken into account everything from utilizing solid oak furniture, in-room euro-bathing with stone inlays, individualized heat/ac, individual large screen cable television with our in-house television station, internet access, and bedside telephone.” The therapeutic design also improves staff efficiency by providing in room supplies and storage, and a multi-purpose centralized Bistro.
The new 13,400 Sq. Ft. Transitional Care Unit is a replacement for 31 beds allowing the center to maintain their total occupancy of 60 beds. According to Vagnetti, “this Grand Opening represents the completion of Phase 2 in the overall 4 Phase project - Phase 3 will be the renovation of the existing structure (29 resident capacity). Phase 4 is the construction and renovation of a new therapy gym, chapel, physician office, staff training room, and conference room.”
The center’s smaller size has always allowed caring for high acuity individuals while remaining homelike in a person centered environment. Much of the design brings a country feel to the center with warm colors, various wood flooring and carpet designs, and small personal touches. Much more than a traditional skilled nursing center, the new Transitional Care Unit truly offers a lifestyle choice in post-acute care.
