Meet Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks
Senator Winnie Brinks is serving her second term in the Michigan Senate. She is proud to have earned the historic distinction as the first woman to ever to serve as Senate Majority Leader.
She previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2012 to 2018. Prior to that she was a caseworker at The Source where she helped businesses and nonprofits improve workplaces, while helping companies grow and retain employees.
Brinks earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a concentration in sociology from Calvin University. She and her husband, Steve, live in Grand Rapids. They have three daughters, Olivia, Annalise and Emma.
Senator Brinks served as vice chair of the Senate Health Policy Committee during her first term in the Senate. In this role, she became familiar with the challenges and issues facing Michigan’s long-term care profession. HCAM looks forward to continued work with her this legislative term.
