IPRAT Initiates HAI Reduction Project (SNF)

The Infection Prevention Resource and Assessment Team (IPRAT) at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) created a team of subject matter experts (infection preventionists, nurse consultants, and epidemiologists/data analysts) to provide infection prevention support and resources to long-term care facilities within Michigan. The team will ensure that facility infection prevention practices reflect evidence-based policies and industry standards to provide safe resident care and prevent health care-associated infections. Through this program, IPRAT works with facilities toward the goal of HAI elimination.

IPRAT is a non-regulatory team at MDHHS offering infection prevention and control consultative services to healthcare settings for free. Some of these services include onsite infection control assessments, onsite education and policy/procedure review. The HAI Project with IPRAT is currently focused on Clostridioides diffcile infection (CDI) and Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) reduction. If you would like assistance with these topics or other infection prevention and control issues, please contact IPRAT at [email protected] or visit their website: Infection Prevention Resource and Assessment Team (IPRAT)
