MDHHS Confirms Nursing Facility Rate Methodology Effective October 2024

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) recently confirmed that, for State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2025 — which begins October 1, 2024, the same Michigan Medicaid rate structure that was used for SFY 2024 will be used for SFY 2025. This means that rates for October 1, 2024, will be based on 2023 cost reports.

MDHHS will continue to work with stakeholders, including HCAM, to develop and implement a new nursing facility reimbursement system. At this point, MDHHS confirmed that this new system will not be ready by October 2024.
