Member Call to Action – Tell your Legislators to vote NO on Medical Malpractice Reform!

Recently introduced House Bills 6085 and 6086 will make major changes to Michigan’s medical malpractice statute. The bills will overrule a recent Michigan Supreme Court decision by allowing speculative economic damages, as well as significantly increase the caps on noneconomic damages, even allowing unlimited awards in certain circumstances. There is a chance the bills could move in the next several weeks as the Michigan Legislature nears the conclusion of the term at the end of December.

Such a change to the medical malpractice statute in Michigan will significantly add to the already increasing costs that nursing facility providers are currently struggling to manage, and will threaten the ability to operate in the state.

We ask you to contact your state legislators and Governor Whitmer to urge them to oppose House Bills 6085 and 6086!

Please click HERE to find template letters to your state legislators. The letter will automatically populate with your information and the contact information for your representative.

Thank you for your engagement on this very important issue.
