CMS Lifts Claims Hold

On October 21, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a special MLN Connects Newsletter, which included an update on the claims hold it put in place due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. CMS states that Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) have been instructed to process claims with dates of service of October 1, 2025, and later for services impacted by the expired Medicare legislative payment provisions passed under the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025 — most notably all claims paid under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. CMS directed all MACs to continue to hold those claims impacted by the expiration of the Medicare telehealth waiver. Providers may submit Part B claims with dates of service of October 1, 2025, or later.
