Governor Signs FY 22 Budget – Officially Continuing Direct Care Worker Wage Increase

Negotiations between the legislature and administration culminated in the passage of the state’s fiscal year 2022 budget with overwhelming bipartisan support in both the state Senate and House of Representatives. Today, Governor Whitmer signed the budget, officially continuing the wage increase for direct care workers.

The program, which will take effect on October 1, 2022 and continue through September 30, 2022, increases the wage pass through to $2.35 per hour. Otherwise, the program remains unchanged, and will apply to the same employees and have the same reimbursement process as is currently in place.
