Governor Whitmer Signs One-Week Continuation Budget (SNF/AL)
Early this morning (October 1), the Michigan Legislature passed, and Governor Whitmer signed, House Bill 4161 to provide $1.57 billion in state government spending through October 8. This continuation budget allows state government to remain open at current funding levels while legislators continue to negotiate and finalize the state FY 2026 budget. Governor Whitmer and legislative leadership remain optimistic that the final budget will be in place before October 8. With the continuation budget signed, state operations will continue. This will allow the skilled nursing Medicaid rates as well as the Direct Care Worker and Non-Clinical Staff wage reimbursements to continue to be paid through October 8 at current year rates.
