HCAM Joins House Bill 4841 Workgroup

HCAM continues advocacy efforts to oppose House Bill 4841, which if implemented, would significantly change the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act. HCAM member Jon Zima of Dockerty Health, along with two HCAM staff members, testified before the Michigan House Families, Children and Seniors Committee in September about the negative impacts of the bill. Committee Chair Rep. Stephanie Young indicated her willingness to work with stakeholders to mitigate our concerns, therefore creating a workgroup. Workgroup meetings will begin this Friday, November 3. HCAM has been invited to attend the workgroup and will continue to engage with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), the bill sponsor, committee members and legislative leaders to educate them about the catastrophic impact the bill will have on Michigan’s AFCs and ensure that the most problematic provisions of the bill are addressed.
