Be Prepared for Winter Viruses (SNF/AL)

Experts are predicting the coming winter season may present a tripledemic – a combined high incidence of COVID, Influenza, and Respiratory Synovial Virus (RSV). The prediction comes with basis:

  • Influenza has gotten off to an early start this year. Most states are reporting seasonal flu activity, with the southeast and south central states having the highest activity so far.
  • Hospitals are seeing a surge in RSV cases, with individuals ill enough to require hospitalization and acute treatment.
  • Although COVID cases have been trending down through the summer and early fall, the new emerging variants are highly transmissible, with those cases trending upwards rapidly.

Take measures to stay healthy:

  • Stay up-to-date with Influenza vaccinations as well as COVID vaccinations and boosters.
  • Wear a mask when you are in situations with tight quarters or large groups.
  • Practice good hand hygiene.
  • Get enough sleep, and
  • Stay hydrated!
