CMS Increases Nursing Facility Ownership Transparency (SNF)

Today, June 28, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) shared their intent to begin publishing ownership data including names of affiliated owners for the first time on Nursing Home Care Compare. CMS will share aggregated data on Care Compare reflecting all affiliated facilities under shared ownership, such as 5 Star Ratings for safety, staffing, and quality. According to CMS, this action is intended to advance the Biden Administration’s ongoing initiative to increase the transparency of corporate ownership and the operation of nursing facilities.
