CMS Updates SNF Consolidated Billing Codes – Effective October 2024

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) periodically updates the list of Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes that are excluded from the SNF Medicare Part A consolidated billing (CB) provision of the prospective payment system. CMS announced an update to the list on June 6. Codes that are now excluded can be billed to Medicare Part B separately. The updates take effect October 1, 2024.  

Details: Seven codes under the major categories of chemotherapy, customized prosthetic devices and certain blood clotting factors were added to the CB exclusion list. One code under the chemotherapy major category was deleted from the exclusion list and will no longer be paid separately during a SNF Part A stay.
