MDHHS Adopts Flexibilities to Assist Beneficiaries as Medicaid Redeterminations Commence (SNF/AL)
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reminds Medicaid beneficiaries who received renewal packets with a June 30 deadline to complete and return their forms by that date to avoid losing coverage. However, MDHHS reports that it will not disqualify anyone from coverage for not returning the paperwork until the end of July under new, flexible guidance shared by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). As of now, MDHHS is implementing this change only for beneficiaries up for renewal in June to lessen the impact of resuming Medicaid renewals and to ensure beneficiaries do not lose coverage unnecessarily. However, additional flexibilities and options may be adopted in the near future as CMS continues to authorize more options for states. HCAM will continue to share updates with members as changes occur.
