MDHHS Releases Grant for Nursing Facility Room Conversion Pilot Projects (SNF)
On September 28, 2022, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released a grant proposal through their EGrAMS for converting nursing facility rooms to single occupancy rooms. If you are interested in applying for these grant funds, HCAM recommends that you begin the process by applying to the EGrAMS process as it will take some time to complete.
Per the proposal: The purpose of the program funding is to make local investments that support long-term infection prevention efforts through the initiation of a nursing facility room conversion pilot project. The department shall reimburse nursing facilities that are awarded these grants for 50% of the cost for facilities to convert multi-resident rooms into single resident rooms.
Eligible applicants include federally recognized tribes and nursing homes located in Michigan. Eligible applicants must be licensed in Michigan and in good standing. Applicants must participate in the state’s Medicaid program.
MDHHS will prioritize awarding funds for the conversion of rooms that have more than two residents into single resident rooms in the following order:
- Conversion of rooms with four residents to single occupancy.
- Conversion of three-person rooms to single occupancy.
- Conversion of two-person rooms to single occupancy.
The grant period is from January 1 to September 30, 2023. MDHHS plans to issue four awards, with a maximum single award amount of $10 million; however, more than four awards can be issued based on proposal that are submitted. An FAQ document will be posted to the EGrAMS website by October 13, 2022.
Deadline: Grant applications for the Nursing Facility Room Conversion Pilot Program RFP must be submitted electronically through the EGrAMS program by 3 p.m., October 26, 2022. Please plan to submit your proposal at least 30 minutes before the deadline to avoid missing this opportunity.
