MDHHS Revises Non-Available Bed Plan Policy (SNF)
MDHHS released changes to the non-available bed plan policy to allow flexibility to assist in addressing the low census. The policy MSA 21-43 is a temporary change effective October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024. The policy allows a facility to choose beds in individual rooms and remove them from service for a period of six months. Beds in a non-available bed plan are no longer subject to the occupancy rule while the plan is in place. A facility can adjust the number of beds designated as non-available after the initial six months to reflect your changes in the need to use those beds for providing care. If you have questions regarding the policy contact Pat at [email protected].
