Meet Senator Aric Nesbitt, Republican Leader of the Michigan Senate

Senator Aric Nesbitt is serving his second term in the Michigan Senate where he was elected Senate Minority Leader in January. He represents the new 20th District, which includes portions of Berrien, Van Buren, Allegan, and Kent counties. He previously served three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016 and as the Michigan Lottery Commissioner from 2017 to 2018.

Senator Nesbitt grew up as the middle child on a six-generation family farm in West Michigan. He went on to earn an economics degree from Hillsdale College, later earning a master’s in international business. He lives in Porter Township, with his wife Trisha, daughter Catherine, and son William near the family farm.

During his time in the Legislature, Senator Nesbitt has established a strong understanding of the issues impacting long-term care. HCAM will continue to work with him this term to help address the challenges facing the sector.
