Michigan Office of Attorney General Releases Initiative to Identify Exploitation of Nursing Facility Residents (SNF)
Today the Office of the Attorney General sent an email to facilities detailing the launch of an initiative creating an easy-to-use portal for nursing facilities to report suspected financial exploitation of residents to the department’s Health Care Fraud Division.
The AG’s office recognizes that facilities are often in a position to be the first to identify financial exploitation of their residents. In order to combat these situations and protect the resident as quickly as possible, the Health Care Fraud Division is asking facilities to provide pertinent information of suspected exploitation, which is often perpetrated by a family member or close friend of the resident. The division established an online tool for facility staff to easily report – the link can be found HERE.
