Nurse Aide Training & Testing Barriers (SNF)
AHCA is advocating at the federal level to extend the 1135 Waivers allowing for the use of Temporary Nurse Aides (TNA) as a means of addressing the workforce shortage, and allow adequate time for current TNAs to transition to full status. The long term care industry has been hit the hardest of health care settings with an overall average 17% decline in workforce over the course of the pandemic. In addition to efforts at the federal level, HCAM continues to advocate with the Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs (LARA) for options and flexibilities in transitioning TNAs.
Your voice sharing your experience is needed to support these efforts. If you are experiencing delays and barriers to enrolling TNAs into current Nurse Aide Training Programs (NATP) please reach out to LARA to make them aware of your barriers. You can contact LARA via email at [email protected].
Likewise, if you are facing barriers scheduling eligible candidates for their nurse aide exam, either due to a lack of available testing dates or lack of testing options in your locale, reach out to Headmaster directly by phone at (888) 401-0462. Headmaster is attempting to accommodate requests as best as possible and will make every effort to meet your needs.
