Don’t Miss This:

Nursing Facilities Must Comply with Enhanced Facility Assessment by August 8, 2024

The first requirement of the new “Minimum Staffing Standards for Long-Term Care Facilities Rule” to become active is the enhanced Facility Assessment. The rule expanded the Facility Assessment requirements, adding “behavioral health” to the list of issues that facilities must address during the process. It also requires facility leaders, managers, direct care staff, residents, resident representatives and family members to actively participate in the process. All facilities — both rural and non-rural — must incorporate the new Facility Assessment requirements by August 8.

Please Note: While several efforts are underway to prevent CMS from implementing the staffing mandate, it is unlikely that anything will happen before August 8. Therefore, it’s critical that providers understand the new assessment process requirements and how to operationalize the changes in your facilities.

HCAM Webinar: To help, HCAM is hosting a webinar on July 1 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET: The webinar, “New CMS Guidance: Facility Assessment Requirements,” is $25 for HCAM members; $100 for non-members. Find out more and register here.
