Nursing Facility LOCD Passive Redetermination (SNF)
The Michigan Department of Health &Human Services (MDHHS) identified an issue with implementing the Level of Care Determination (LOCD) Passive Redetermination file after changes were made to the MDS 3.0. The department announced that it will be turning off the Passive Redetermination process related to all entities that have their files created from the MDS 3.0. MDHHS will notify providers when a new crosswalk is created to encompass the changes made to the MDS and file operation resumes. Entities that have their Passive Redeterminations created via the iHC will continue to do so without interruption.
The department will reverse any existing Door 87s that were created using the MDS in the system from 10/1/2023 to 1/8/2024 that have not had a subsequent LOCD conducted in person and entered into CHAMPS. The end date of the previously existing LOCD record prior to the application of Door 87 will be restored. If this does not resolve the issue, providers should contact provider support to resolve their specific situation. Nursing facilities are reminded to monitor LOCD end dates within CHAMPS and conduct a new LOCD before each end date. Questions? Email MDHHS provider support or call (800) 292-2550.
