Providers Can Order Free C. diff, Antibiotic Use and Sepsis Print Materials (SNF/AL)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion offers free resources for patients and health care professions: (1) Be Antibiotics Aware, (2) Get Ahead of Sepsis and (3) C. diff. infection. Order free print materials on CDC Publications On Demand by typing “Antibiotic Use,” “Sepsis,” or “C. Diff” in the “Keyword or PubID” box and clicking “Apply;” or, you can call (800) CDC-INFO.
Antibiotics are critical tools for treating infections caused by bacteria. These life-saving drugs should be used only when needed to protect individuals from adverse events, including C. diff infection, and to combat antimicrobial resistance. If antibiotics lose their effectiveness, then health care professionals lose the ability to treat infections, like those that can lead to sepsis — which is the body’s extreme response to an infection. It is a life-threatening medical emergency. The CDC material can help to ensure that long-term care residents continue to receive the highest quality of care.
