Revised SNF ABN Form

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released an updated Skilled Nursing Facility Advance Beneficiary Notice (SNF ABN). The SNF ABN form and instructions are available for immediate use and become mandatory for Medicare Part A on October 31, 2024. For Part A items and services, nursing facilities use the SNF ABN form as the liability notice to transfer potential financial liability before providing custodial care or providing an item or service that is typically paid for by Medicare but may not be covered in a particular instance because it is not medically reasonable and necessary.
