Take Steps to Effectively Prevent a Legionella Outbreak
Please beware that Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs state surveyors may be looking more closely for Legionella and other pathogens in the water systems of long-term care facilities. Below are several resources to help you ensure that the measurers your facility has in place effectively prevent the growth of opportunistic waterborne pathogens and that your testing protocols, such as flushing water from pipes and cleaning hot water tanks, will effectively prevent Legionellosis outbreaks.
- AHCA/NCAL free webinar on water management and Legionella (your AHCA/NCAL login is required to access this resource).
- AHCA/NCAL slides/handouts about Legionella.
