Two New AHCA Tip Sheets Now Available (SNF)
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations require skilled nursing facilities to ensure that each facility can and does provide emergency basic life support immediately when needed, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), to any resident requiring such care prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel in accordance with related physician’s orders, such as DNRs, and the resident’s advance directives. AHCA developed Tips for Meeting the CPR Requirements in Skilled Nursing Facilities based on common reasons facilities receive citations for F678, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Nursing facilities are required under §483.80 to report resident respiratory pathogen and vaccination data weekly to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) National Health Safety Network (NHSN). They are also required to report healthcare provider data under the Skilled Nursing Facility Quality Reporting Program (SNF QRP) on a quarterly and annual basis. AHCA has provided a NHSN Tip Sheet to help facility staff with reporting compliance.
