Medicaid Cost Report Attestation for COVID Relief Facility Reporting (SNF)

MDHHS Office of Audit has provided clarification and an attestation for filing the COVID Relief facility data. Your facility’s file transfer inbox contained detailed information regarding filing for providers with any beds designated as a COVID Relief Facility. Below is some of the information and the allowance for providers who had submitted cost reports with detail that can know be attested to. This information should be shared with your cost report preparer immediately if you are fling your December 31, 2021 cost report. The entire notice and attestation form is available by clicking HERE. Questions? “Several in the provider community and preparers have communicated the difficulties that are associated with reporting the CR Tier 1 and CR Tier 2 beds designation for cost reporting purposes. Upon further discussion within the LTC Reimbursement and Audit Division team, we offer the following to assist with cost report preparation for the December 2021 cost report filings.

If your facility has beds designated as CR Tier 1 Beds, for the December 2021 cost report filing we are no longer requiring that these beds, cost, or square footage be reported on the MRCU # 2 line of WS-B and WS-2, or cost be reported on Worksheet 1 in the MRCU #2 cost center. The beds, square footage and costs may remain in the MRCU#1 lines or cost centers of the various worksheets.

If you have already prepared this portion of your cost report and broken out as previously instructed on the MRCU#2 line on other various worksheets, the is no need to change what you have on your cost report filing. For the December 2021 cost reports, we will accept either reporting approach.

The CR Tier 2 beds must be reported on the MRCU #2 line on Worksheet B along with any census, square footage must be reported on Worksheet #2 and cost must be reported on Worksheet 1 in the MRCU#2 Unit.”
