Federal Government Begins Partial Shutdown (SNF/AL)

Despite negotiations, U.S. lawmakers could not agree on funding legislation before midnight on October 1. As a result, a partial federal government shutdown began today, which is the first day of the federal fiscal year. Medicare and Medicaid programs and payments will continue uninterrupted, though staffing shortages could mean delays for some services. The shutdown may limit or impact CMS Survey and Certification activities, policy and rulemaking, and beneficiary casework.
