HCAM Advocates to Protect Medicaid

Senator Elissa Slotkin (below left) visited MediLodge of Okemos to meet with HCAM board member Shelly Berryman (holding the mic below), who is Vice President of Operations at MediLodge, along with HCAM President and CEO Melissa Samuel and HCAM EVP Rich Farran. Senator Slotkin discussed the dangers of potential Medicaid cuts to long-term care. Berryman spoke about what Medicaid means to the facility, staff and residents. In addition, resident Frieda Newbacher shared how Medicaid meant the difference between life and death for her.

Our national affiliate, the American Health Care Association (AHCA), has identified Michigan as a key state in the effort to protect the Medicaid program. This event is one of many actions HCAM is taking to help convey the importance of Medicaid to regulators and lawmakers.
