Acute Respiratory Illness Reporting Now Required (SNF)
Acute Respiratory Illness Reporting Now Required (SNF)
As of January 1, nursing facilities must electronically report information about COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) weekly to the National Health Safety Network (NHSN), which includes:
- Facility census;
- Resident vaccination status for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV;
- Confirmed resident cases of COVID-19, influenza, and RSV (overall and by vaccination status);
- Hospitalized residents with confirmed cases of COVID-19, influenza, and RSV (overall and by vaccination status).
This requirement comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) releasing QSO-25-11-NH Long Term Care (LTC) Facility Acute Respiratory Illness Reporting Requirements. The slide set from a previous NHSN webinar is available to download. Please email questions about the NHSN reporting to Colin Bercher.
