Reminder: Nursing Home Workforce Stabilization Grant Submission Due May 19
On May 8, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued the following link for nursing facilities to apply for the Workforce Retention and Recruitment Grant under Public Act 05 of 2023, which provides for $67 million of one-time funding to award grants to stabilize and improve staffing at long-term care facilities.
MDHHS suggested that proposals could be built on similar projects as those that were used in the 2022 Workforce grant proposals. As in the 2022 grant submission, wages/bonuses for staff would not be considered the best use of available grant funding.
Additionally, the following criteria may be considered by MDHHS when evaluating and scoring applications.
- Supports multiple facilities
- Geographically represented
- Jointly developed by leadership and staff
- Jointly developed with labor management partnership
- Healthcare workforce experience in multiple states
- Clearly supports staff recruitment, retention, training, and career development
Applications are due this Friday, May 19 at 5 p.m. EST. Questions? Email [email protected].
Read the MDHHS memo about the grant here. The current grant has a timeframe for which funds must be used: January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024. There is no maximum limit for grant amount requests out of the total available of $67 million.
