State Licensing Renewal Cycle for Nursing Facilities is Open (SNF)

The 2023-2024 state licensing renewal cycle for nursing facilities is now open. Standard renewal notices were mailed to the correspondence address of each nursing facility. The renewal process may be completed through the eLicense portal using a credit card or electronic check for payment of the licensing fees. Do not mail paper checks to the department for license renewal fees.

To renew a state license, please use the following process:

  1. Go to BCHSeLicense.
  2. Enter the permanent ID/license number listed on the license and select the “Search for License” button at the bottom of screen. Note, all license numbers are a ten-digit number that start with 1070.
  3. Select the “Continue to Summary” button at the bottom of screen.
  4. Select the “Continue to Fees” button at the bottom of screen.
  5. Select the “$ Pay Fees in CEPAS” button at the bottom of screen.
  6. Follow the prompts to provide electronic payment information for the license renewal fee.
  7. Print the receipt for the payment, this is the only opportunity to print a receipt for the payment.

It takes approximately three weeks from the point of payment until the paper copy of the license is received through the mail. Please plan accordingly to ensure that the paper copy of the license is received prior to the expiration date.

If a state license is not renewed on or before the expiration date of July 31, 2023, the license is expired in accordance with MCL 333.20164. Therefore, the license will be null and void on August 1, 2023.

Questions about the license renewal process or how to change license information, email LARA Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Long-Term-Care State Licensing Section or call (877) 458-2757.
