State Provides Resources on Earned Sick Time Act (AL/SNF)
As we previously shared, the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act is now in effect, requiring ALL Michigan small businesses with one or more employees to comply with the new regulations. Under the act, employers must provide employees with written notice of their rights, including a brochure or poster, in English, Spanish and any language spoken by at least 10% of the workforce, outlining how much earned sick time can be accrued and used as well as the employer’s designated benefit year. The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity now has the following resources available:
- Earned Sick Time Act FAQ, also available in Spanish and Arabic.
- Earned Sick Time Act – Required Poster, also available in Spanish and Arabic.
- New: Brochure – Overview of the Earned Sick Time Act; Spanish edition coming soon.
Webinar Recording: HCAM hosted a webinar to explain what the changes mean to you. Labor and employment law expert Grant Pecor walked through the key requirements and practical strategies needed to keep facilities in compliance. A recording of that webinar is available; $25 for members; $75 for non-members.
