Pre-Convention Workshop: C3 De-Escalation for Care Providers

Sunday, September 15 | 12:30 – 4:30 pm

Grand Rapids, MI

A newly released a report found that 81.6% of nurses have experienced at least one type of workplace violence within the last year. The three most common types of violence reported were being verbally threatened, physically threatened and being pinched or scratched.

HCAM is here to help: We are hosting an afternoon workshop to help you learn techniques to de-escalate angry, frustrated or overwhelmed residents in an appropriate, safe, effective manner.

C3 De-escalation is an innovative, practical technique that works with brain functions to calm aggressive or distraught residents. It’s appropriate for use with residents with severe and persistent mental health disorders, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, dementia, TBIs or intellectual disabilities.

This training is for everyone working in skilled nursing or assisted living settings. Each workshop participant will receive the C3 De-escalation workbook and will work in teams to create de-escalation action plans for their own workplaces.
