PROGRAM SUMMARY

CMS is adopting a new version of the MDS and is releasing the first updated RAI User’s Manual since 2019. This two-part virtual program will review the new MDS items, the retiring MDS items and related changes to the RAI User’s Manual and is critical for assessment staff to be prepared for the October 1, 2023 implementation of the new item set.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will:

  1. Self-report a knowledge gain of the changes to the MDS item set and coding instructions.

  2. Articulate changes to the resident interviews in the RAI
  3. Explain new assessments periods for Section O of the MDS
  4. Discuss additions to the discharge assessment
  5. Describe care planning implications of the new MDS items

Continuing Education

Final determination of contact hours will be published on the website.

RN: Nurse participants may earn up to 6 nurse education contact hours. Health Care Association of Michigan is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

CE Reporting:  HCAM will need 30 days after the event conclusion to compile and process all attendance data. Once the data is compiled, certificates will be available to access. Certificate questions should be directed to Mary Gettel. Session attendance for administrators will be reported to NAB using their NAB Registry ID. NAB Registry IDs MUST be submitted during the registration process.

Requirements of Participation:

  1. Conference evaluation is required.
    • This will be emailed to you at the conclusion of the event and must be completed within 72 hours.
  2. Be sure you are entering and exiting sessions at the start and end of the session – if you miss more than 10 minutes because you arrived late or left early, you will not receive credit. It is YOUR responsibility to follow the agenda and be on time!
  3. Attendees caught cheating or violating our attendance policies will not receive credit for the event.
