COVID-19 impacted every aspect of the nursing facility operation both clinical and financial. This program will focus on what happened during the pandemic and its financial challenge on facilities. As always getting paid timely and correctly by Medicare, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage plans for the services provided is essential to a nursing facilities’ operations. Various billing and eligibility policy changes were created to address the challenges to getting paid throughout the pandemic. The program will also have a time for reflection on the impact of the pandemic and what the future may hold. Michigan Department of Health and Human Services representatives will present on Medicaid billing, eligibility, LOCD and other topics. The virtual program will also provide updates on Medicare Advantage enrollment, PDPM payment rule FY 22 and Michigan occupancy and pandemic data as tracked by HCAM.

This program will run from 8:30 am – 11:30 am ET on Zoom.

This program is intended for business office managers, accounts payable, billers, financial staff, owners/operators, CEO/CFOs, administrators, clinical nurses and consultants.


Due to the free-form nature of this program, and to allow the greatest flexibility to bring you timely, relevant, and critical information, continuing education contact hours will not be provided.


Pat Anderson, MPA | Health Care Association of Michigan
Pat Anderson, HCAM’s Executive Vice President of Reimbursement Services, provides extensive knowledge and expertise regarding reimbursement from all payers. She has served HCAM members for over 25 years and prior to that 20 years with the Medicaid agency. Pat educates members on reimbursement policies and procedures, tracks and trends relevant data and happenings that impact long-term care reimbursement systems while actively advocating for member interests at the state level. She also represents the HCAM membership in key meetings regarding the Medicaid budget with the State Budget Office and key MDHHS financial staff along with managed care providers in the MI Health Link program and Medicare Advantage plans. She has a Master’s in Public Administration and Bachelors in Accounting.

Lynn Hicks | Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
Lynn Hick’s, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Provider Relations Section, has long been a reliable and helpful resource for providers regarding various Medicaid billing issues and polices. Lynn will bring her latest information regarding Medicaid billing as it relates to COVID and other policy changes necessitated by the pandemic. She will present with other MDHHS staff knowledgeable on eligibility concerns, LOCD changes and other policy issues.
